Why is Asia being targeted for pollution? Do they not have a right to development?

The Article talks about pollution from China and other part of Asia affecting USA. It is the developed countries who should bear the cost of controlling decades of pollution when they are the biggest contributors of it.

  1. yeah U.S and the other developed countries are the main contributors of air pollution--looks like US is looking for a scapegoat

  2. It is my opinion that until Europe and the United States make an effort to be green the rest of the world is under no obligation to do so.

But with that said, the amount of pollution that could be given off from China and India as they continue to develop is truly staggering.

  3. WRONG-- the USA and Europe already spend BILLIONS of dollars every year on environmental and pollution issues-- our air and water are already much cleaner than in the 1960s-70s for example.

Meanwhile Russia, India, China, have numerous pollution and environmental problems they are currently NOT addressing. Here read these articles--

  5. This is a very good example how emissions from other countries affects the whole globe and the reason why ALL countries have to co-operate. We share the same atmosphere and it can't be solely up to any country to decide how to deal with their different emissions (unless they could put a hood over their country to keep all their emissions for them selves).

We've now learned what damage pollution can do for health and climate so unfortunately I don't think we can allow Asia and other developing countries to follow in our old footsteps. But to put the blame on them without doing our part in the developed world is not fair. How can for instance "the rich" U.S. which is still in top position when it comes to CO2 emissions per capita, ask "the poor" Asia to do their part when the present U.S government has refused to respond to the plead from the rest of the world to cut their CO2 emissions?

  6. Yes, USA fuel consumption per person is 10 times than India & putting more gases to universe.
