  1. yes it has where i am in Brampton (outside of Toronto). its now about $1.25 per leter. up from about 87 cents last year. but it usually goes up in summer. some places are paying even more then that.

  2. Yes, but it is still more expensive than it is in the US. I think our taxes are higher. The oil companies, and the government are making a lot of money - gas tax is a percentage of the price, not a flat value.

  3. To day   gas is $ 1.35 a liter  allmost  six bucks a gallon

  4. Yep, gas has gone up everywhere. Except maybe some middle easter countries.

  5. Yes!!!...All around the world the same.

  6. Yes.  Our gas prices are actually a fair chunk higher than in the US.

    Here in Winnipeg it's 129.9 cents/litre...which equates to $4.93/gallon.

Our gas prices are expected to hit 139.9 cents/litre this summer, which would be  $5.32/gallon.  Ouch.

  7. Yes, it is climbing in price here too.  At current it is $1.25 per litre... which is roughly $5.00 per gallon.

  8. All of North America is seeing gas costs go up. Gas in Montreal this week was at $1.39 per litre (or roughly $5.60 per gallon).

As another person mentioned, Canada's gas prices are generally higher than in USA because the government adds taxes to the gas that are not a flat rate per gallon...when gas prices go up, it costs you more in taxes as well.

You would think with the Alberta oil sands and the Hibernia oil rigs off Newfoundland coast, Canadians would get a discount on the cost of gas like they do in South America or the Middle East. However, the Canadian government and our oil companies prefer to keep our gas priced high to make more profit, using the excuse that lowering the price would only make us more inclined to use more of it.

Plus, they manipulate the prices here, so you might pay $1.29/L in the morning and it hits $1.39/L by the afternoon, then drops to $1.37/L by next morning! Going to the pumps in Canada is a bit like playing the stock market...you have to try and buy on a day when the price is on its down cycle.

No one can convince me that the price of gas has to fluctuate by 40 cents a gallon in one day because the price of a barrel of crude oil rose by $2.00 a barrel!
