Question:

Did the solar global warming skeptics/deniers set themselves up for a fall?

For years we were told that the increase in green house gases would cause the planets temperatures to increase. We would have more hurricanes, polar ice would melt, coastal areas would flood due to rising sea levels, interiors would bake under the hot sun and droughts, food supplies would dwindle, humanity would be doomed.

However not one dire prediction seems to be coming true, even with a steady increase of co2.

The Earth appears to be getting colder, ice caps are above normal levels, and there hasn’t been an active hurricane season in 2 years.

When are we going to stop listening to these profits of doom and realize that no one can predict the future, and anyone that says they can is either delusional or conning us?

When will we realize that there better uses for our resources, and end the funding of so called “global warming”?

  1. Do you have any examples of a "dire prediction" that was supposed to occur by 2008 that hasn't?

Context is everything.  Just because the prediction that the sea-level would rise between 0.2 M and 0.7M by 2100 hasn't occurred by 2008, that hardly makes it an erroneous prediction.  Likewise with every other prediction you mentioned.

The planet is warming, slowly as predicted but there's still a clear 30-yr trend.  The polar ice is melting, you simply have to separate short-term weather induced noise from the long term trend that clearly shows the polar ice is decreasing.

  2. Dr. Jello,

I can't even fathom what to say about your post.  I have the same reaction when people deny that evolution has taken place on Earth.  It's something akin to not understanding how someone can deny something that is visible to the naked eye.

  3. In looking into this issue, I've witnessed a never ending cycle of my facts refute yours and so on and so on and so on. I've been forced to look more carefully into the motives of the people propping up this theory like an idol. As the scientists go the funding is a major telling issue. How can anyone doubt that there is a serious conflict of interests. I'm not saying that all the scientists are dishonest. I suppose they probably follow the national average in that regard. That said, throw in billions of dollars and ask yourself if that might influence the most honest of Joes to tell a few white lies.

  4. I partially agree with you.  But first of all I have to say that no one is ''funding'' global warming.  They might be funding histeria aruond global warming, but they aren't intentionally funding global warming.  But sorry to be picky.  Anyhow...

Many scientists have long said that the only true effect on climate change comes from the sun, and that our CO2 emissions are like a f**t in a hurricane.  And although I don't know what to believe at this point because so many different seemingly reputable sources are for both arguments, I tend to think that a cautious approach is a better one, so why not curb our green house gas emition?  If anything, it will just make our air and water cleaner and help develop new technologies, creating new jobs.  Why not spread that oil wealth around a little?  After all, when Exxon Mobile, one of many huge oil companies, posts 40 billion dollars in profits in a three month period, I think that money could be better spent than to line the pockets of already disgustingly wealthy executives.

    Cheers.

  5. So let's see, over the past few decades the planet's temperature increased, the polar ice caps melted, sea levels rose, the scientific jury is still out on global warming's impact on hurricanes, and the rest of your examples are future projections which we haven't reached yet.

Meanwhile solar irradiance has stayed level over that period.

Are you trying to argue that 'solar global warming skeptics' are right?  Because you're doing a good job of that.

  6. You do know, I hope, that solar irradiance is (and has been) on the decline, right?

  7. I remember once when some profits started talking to me.  They kept saying spend me...spend us...

  8. Your question seems to contradict itself. First, you say people who don't believe in global warming doomed, but then you say the world getting colder, thereby supporting the non-believers.

The fact is the world is not getting colder, and ice caps are getting smaller. Global warming will happens regardless of humans, we just have a way of accelerating it. But, the fact eventually the world will cool off because at a certain point mother nature resets herself, and the world will plummet into an ice age. We are just beginning to see the effects of global warming, the future effects will be 10x worse.

As for funding "global warming," it seems kind of belligerent for nearly 200 country to acknowledge global warming and yet have it be a hoax.

  9. Oh noes! Global warming is a hoax and a scam OH NOES!!!

How DARE you be a naysayer to Al Gore and his liberal minions!

Seriously, your post is very well stated and nicely put.

  10. My quandary in this matter would be a hypothesis of :(1) Having their cake and eating it to.(2)Or is it simply the basic egg on their face theory.
