Way to go, if they did. Why don't other states follow suit?

  1. Yes, we do finally go back to school after Labor Day.  The purpose was to improve tourism by extending summer.  It's quite nice!  However, we do go longer in June, and have eliminated or shortened some breaks.

If you ask me, the best thing to do would be to make the school year run from Labor Day to Memorial Day and add length to each school day to accommodate the lack of days!  As it is, the kids check out (as do the teachers!) after Memorial Day!

  2. Here is the press release from 2005

  3. Yes.  It finally passed.  Public schools cannot start before Labor day. State law.

  4. I don't know. But, I live in PA and we don't go back until the 2nd of September.
