  6. I think the Suns did make a good trade if they want to win NOW. Here are my counterarguments for these statements:

    1. Shaq does not do jack sh*t for the Suns at all.

        Shaq's presence for the latter half of the season has made Amare Stoudemire into a beast and has improved the Suns defensive rebounding.

    2. Shaq is way past his prime. He has no offensive game left in him and can't play defense.

    Shaq definitely helps their halfcourt offense, defense, and strengthens their frontline. Remember, before Shaq came, Amare played alot of minutes at the center position.

    3. Shaq is always injured. Dude can't keep himself healthy for at least 60 games. He also will become freakin' lazy, examples are LA and Miami.

    The Suns medical staff has dramatically improved Shaq's conditioning from before the trade to now. I believe Shaq still has two years left in him that can help the Suns with their championship push. In addition, Shaq's motivation was not a problem this year and should not be a problem next year unless he becomes too tired to play basketball or the Suns finally win a ring with him.

    Bottomline: The Suns have taken a gamble trade and we will not know if it was a good trade or not until Shaq's time is done in Phoenix

    Championship before Shaq leaves Phoenix= Steve Kerr is a genius.

    No championship during Shaq-Phoenix era= Steve Kerr is a dumbass.

  9. No, not really.  They were hoping for that big final push that puts them over the top.  Shaq have won a lotta titles, he knows how to win.  But he didnt prove it last season. And I think it was very poor thinking on the Suns part to trade for a guy who cant run like the Suns do.  Marion could do it easily, Shaq cant.

    On the plus side, Marion wanted out of Phoenix and now hes gone.  And Shaq will play for the Suns next year and he'll be a lil more adapted to the players around him and we'll see how things go from there on.

  10. Considering Shaq's age, not really. But for the sake of the players maybe, supposedly nobody in the locker room could stand Marion and the other way around. And it's reported he let it be known he wanted out.

    He is now weaker than his real strength years ago.

    I really love shaq but he in his dark ages.

  12. No.  Considering how much more money Shaq makes and how much older he is, I say it was a bad trade.  It was a desperation move to try to seriously contend in the West which obviously didn't work out.

  15. no look shaq is 36 years old and has like 2-3 years to retire and marion is like 26 or 27 and has like 10 years left in his career.so the heat got a better trade than the suns!!!

  16. I still think the jury's out on this one. It depends upon Shaq this year. The Suns obtained him knowing he was still hurting from his injury earlier in the season. Marion was becoming a cancer on the Suns - his attitude was carrying over to the floor.

    I believe if Shaq comes into training camp this year in shape and has his minutes limited early in the season that the Suns can contend for the NBA title.

  19. hard to say. they weren't gonna win a championship with Marion, Amare and Nash, and they needed to make a bold move. however, i am not convinced this was the best bold move they could have made.
