I haven't read the novel, just have watched the movie. Could the worms gnaw or kick though tanks and forts?

  1. spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!!!!

the movie is just like the novella except for the end.  in king's version, the story is written by the main character on stationery in motel.  he & the other survivors in the car have stopped there for a rest after escaping from the supermarket & he is writing down his experiences & leaving them there for other survivors to find.  it's an open ending in that you don't know what will happen to them.  the army doesn't come in & save them & defeat the monsters.

it was a really bold choice to end the movie the way they did - very controversial - but king approved of it & said he wished he'd thought of ending his story that way.
