Does anyone know if they had school crossing signs in the 1970s/80s? What did they look like? Any help would be appreciated...

    But they were made of stone and the words were chiseled out (just kidding, of course).

    School crossing signs became common soon after automobiles became common -- and after a few accidents occured because the car drivers thought they had the right-of-way. Many pedestrian-first laws soon followed.
