i was in his class for 2 months (1 quarted) and it was a class totaly graded on quizs and class interaction (talking) i had lost my voice 3 times the quarter. on the quizes/tests i always got the highest grade but i couldnt realy interact.

this one competitive guy had a slightly lower grade then me and everyone wanted him to get a beat me (i had highest grade) even the teacher was rooting for him

we took the final (which i couldnt finish b/c a nose bleed) and still got a higher grade.but the teacher raised his b/c he talked more in class.

WHAT? i had him then we tied. and the tech didnt even raise the kids grades who spoke more then him. ah?

  1. Did he cheat you ? The answer to that  question is that I truly do not know because I only have your side of the story and there are always two sides to every story . If it is like you say , I can tell you from experience , that class participation counts a lot when the grades are due . And every teacher I know has the discrtion to move kids up or down according to  that kids participation and cooperation in class .

I taught for 20+ years as an English teacher in high school and I can tell you I have had students say the same thing , like coach , why don't you like me . Liking had nothing to do with any  students grade . I had to be fair across the board to every single student I had , so what they made is what they got , but with my discretion , I have changed many grades to include their cooperation and participation in class . I had 60's turn into a 70, because I knew that the student was trying , because he was constantly asking questions and staying for tutoring when he needed it .

I hope this helps , good  luck and God bless

  2. If you passed, and got an A, who cares. Be the better person and take the A. Pick your battles.

  3. The first truth of the situation is that all teachers grade differently and there isn't any one way that is right or wrong.  The second truth of the situation is that teachers are human and are capable of making poor choices that are not fair to students.  If nothing else, consider this a learning experience and that some things are out of your control.  Did you still recieve a 'good' grade?  If so, I wouldn't stress about beating the other guy.

  4. I find that most teachers generally favor the students who actively participate in class.  It's not always fair to the students who don't because they are naturally shy or they have a health problem that is preventing them from speaking, but unfortunately, that is just the way the school system works.

If you got an A in the class, then my advice is to not concern yourself with other people's grades.  Accept your A for what it is, and be proud of what you achieved.

  5. Unless you had a doctor's excuse for your voice, no.

  6. Teachers love participation, and excuses after the fact don't often fly very well.

On a slight tangent -- if this is how you wrote while in his class, I am not terribly surprised you got a lower-than-expected grade ...

  7. Terrible particapation is an excuse teacher use to give other students better marks.

  8. ya that was cheating u....srry :(

  9. What grade level??? In my school district, all grades has to be made by something that can be measured. "Talking in class" does not count towards a grade here--only the work that was done counts. Perhaps he gave him "extra credit" for his contribution to class??? I'm not sure. In any case, it probably wasn't very fair... but unfortunately, life is sometimes that way. The best thing to do is to try to learn from the situation and move on. (Even though it is a bitter pill to swallow!)

  10. A nosebleed stops you from taking a final???

  11. The education system has sadly become a piece of corrupt garbage. Riddeled with teachers who pick favorites, teachers who hate children, teachers who plainly cannot teach. I say rebel, but that is mostly because I'm a rebellious person with a hatred of the school system. Teachers can determine a students' future with by simply adding a "-" to a grade. Propelling it from a perfect "A" to a GPA lowering "A-". I personally have had teachers that rounded 89.1 into a 90. And a teacher not rounding an 89.9 into an "A". Have you ever realized the pressure a teacher has? A simple mistake to miscount the grade on a final, can completely change their grade, and their GPA, and their college transcript. With all this pressure, I only have one question to ask...

Why is it that teachers are graduates of the local, looked-down-upon community college? Why am I not taught by the prestigous students of Harvard or Yale?
