KY is a lubricant to help with the friction, it will not prevent pregnancy, sperm glides through it just fine since oour body heat melts the jelly to a water consistancy. Good luck~

What?? KY jelly is a lubricant which aids the process of s*x, it isn't a spermicide, and does not kill the sperm. There are plenty of people who have gotten pregnant using KY, a lot of people use it because they need some extra help in the wetness department.

I did quite a bit of research prior to trying to get pregnant, and decided to avoid all lubricants but preseed.  The PH and osmolarity are different from sperm, which can affect the sperm function.  The reason for wanting the same PH is obvious, but the osmolarity can be a bit more difficult to understand.  Osmolarity is the amount of solute (e.g. salts) dissolved in a solvent (e.g. water).  Remember dropping a piece of potato in fresh water in science?  The potato got all puffy?  That's because the water had a lower osmolarity than the potato.  When you dropped the piece of potato in very salty water, the potato got all shrivelled up!  This was because the water had a higher osmolarity than the potato.  You really don't want your sperm to get "puffy" or all "shrivelled up"!!  The theory is that lubricants (other than your vaginal ones or preseed) can decrease the sperm's function for these reasons.  Now it depends on how much the sperm comes in contact with the lubricant, and the ratio of your own fluids, etc.  It by no means that you cannot get pregnant when using other lubricants, it just suggests that preseed makes things slightly more likely, as the sperm will be slightly healthier.  Preseed also assists with improving your cervical mucus.  I decided to use preseed, and we got pregnant on my first cycle!  I don't know if it was the preseed, or just the fact that I was pretty fertile (I was only 23), but I'll definitely try it again for my next pregnancy!

Oh, and to everyone who responded as if she was asking if the ky actually got her pregnant, use your brain!  Look at the question, and decided to yourself if that makes sense, before you go off insulting people!  The meaning of the question was quite clear to me.

Oops. You are misinformed about what Ky Jelly does. It doesn't prevent pregnancy. More the opposite, because it helps you have s*x longer with less pain. Whoever told you that it's for contraception should go to jail.

Obviously none of you have been to the TTC section... some woman do not make enough, or any fertile cervical mucus, and look to friendly natural products like Pre seed that are closest to cervical mucus.  KY, saliva, or ANY type of lubricants are harmful to sperm, but no, they are not spermicides, pre seed is preferred because it's sperm friendly when TTC, but as long as your partner has a healthy sperm count, KY shouldn't prevent pregnancy.  Good luck and happy testing!!!!

KY jelly "lubricates" everything down there when you have s*x -to make it easier.  It is in no way a birthcontrol method.  Preseed is supposed to HELP you get pregnant...  So I would expect most people get pregnant using it, unless they have fertility problems.

KY is just a lubricant, so of course people have gotten pregnant while using it. It's not a spermicidal agent or anything.

It's possible but if you believe the Pre-Seed website, it's harder to get pregnant using KY than using no lube because sperm can't swim through it.   I got pregnant using the Pre-Seed but I loved it as lube so even if you are already pregnant, you could still use it.  It was one of the best lubes I've ever used.  Very comfortable!
