If you are asking if the usa sells gold, then yes. Virtually every country does at some time or another as a part of their monetary system.

If you are asking about them giving gold for dollars on demand, thus keeping the dollar on the "gold standard", then no, they do not. Contrary to popular belief, the US does not keep a huge enough store of gold at Fort Knox to back the entire us Monetary system.  Nixon abandoned the gold standard for US currency in 1971, due largely to fiscal strain of the viet nam war.
