  1. in my mind and in my car. Indeed it did, however, old  radios  never die, they just go digital.

  2. absolutely.  consider the looks of the artists of the 50s through the early 80s.. they could considered be a fairly unattractive lot, as a whole.  Talent and ability mattered then.

Today's pop/rock stars are generally good looking (except fro Chad Kroeger from nickleback),  you can't sell music without a pretty face anymore!

  3. Definatley.

You only have to hear the kids of today asking "did you SEE the new song by *******?

See a song? Surely you listen to a song and watch a video?

  4. yes, people was shocked when they saw who was singing what.

some people was even shock they had been buying black peoples records, some was shocked and thought it was a woman singing when it was a guy,

  5. Buggles thought so!

  6. It helped, but they killed themselves. It takes a great deal of talent to draw a significant radio audience. The problem is many radio DJs in love with the sound of their own voice and with too little supervision began thinking people were tuning in to hear them rather than the music. That was the death knell.

Add to that the current conglomerization of radio, voice tracking from a central non-local studio and radio signed its own death certificate with the proliferation of MP3 players, cell phones, the internet and satellite availability of music un-interrupted - and thus the death of all but the few really talented radio stars.
