Did we get off to a bad start yesterday?

I asked a couple of questions about Serie A's quality being in decline yesterday, and I think some of you thought I was 'attacking' Serie A or I'm just a 'hater'...but I can promise you that's not the case. I follow Serie A quite closely, as I do a number of leagues, and I was just addressing something that I had noticed...a decline in football quality and a decline in top class players in the league. Obviously some of you strongly disagree, like I would if I thought someone was 'attacking' the Premiership, but it was only my opinion...surely I'm allowed to have that aren't I?

As for the national team, I didn't even want to talk about that but somebody else brought it up as a weapon against English football...so I responded with my opinion again that Italy are nothing like the team they were in 2006 and England had the players and potential to do big things. Again, it's all about opinion.

So basically, don't mistake me for a hater or anything...I'm just a bit reckless when expressing my opinion ;)

FQ: What do Serie A fans think of Inter Milan's £11m transfer of Sulley Muntari? (He's one of my favourite players....)

  1. Your comments on the Football Fantasy League about Serie A, Italy NT and myself don't help.

FA: He is a good player. Has a little disciplinary problem but can easily overcome that and do well. I liked him in Portsmouth.

FYI I lived in London for 9 years and like the EPL very much as well as the England NT (testament my two Three Lions tops in my wardrobe)

  2. I fall asleep when watching Serie A "highlights" on sunday mornings (after just waking up!). How anyone sane can stay awake during an entire match is beyond reason.

  3. Sure you're entitled to your opinions.  But understand that when your opinions are clearly wrong or insulting, people will react.  I say your opinion was wrong because you claim there's a decline in quality players, but in reality most of the top class players are now playing in the Serie A.  And this season especially, more world class players chose Serie A clubs over other clubs.

Who does the EPL have?  The great majority are African and East European players, and some second rate Brazilians.

And sure the Serie A may have taken a hit two seasons ago thanks to the match fixing scandal, but it has clearly bounced back from that now, and I guarantee you this time around the Champions' League will be different.

When I go around criticizing the EPL, my opinions are most often based on facts.

As far as Muntari, I have yet to see him in action but from what I've read he seems to be a good buy.

  4. good going boy :)

FQ - can't really comment since i don't watch Serie A all that much

  5. hmm yeh a bit 'reckless' indeed :)

esp the q on suntari, it's a disservice to the guy. you sort of implied inter just "settled" for him when they couldnt get lampard. but then i know they've been chasing him even b4 he went to pompey. and he plays good, + well adapted to serie a (played there b4 just forgot now wch team). i'd prefer sayin he's an option rather than a 2nd choice :)
