Did women take prenatal vitamins 40+ years ago?

Like when our grandmothers were pregnant with their babies or women 40 or so years ago?

  1. my grandmother did not, my mother says it was an option but most couldn't afford them.  


  2. No, they did not.  In fact, my mother continued to smoke and drink while pregnant.  Nice, huh?  (I was born with a heart defect due to it).

  3. My mother did when she was preggers with my sister.  I was pretty young but I remember her taking something.

  4. I don't think they had them.  My sister was born with spinal bifida and died.  That is caused by a lack of folic acid.

  5. Probably not, but they also ate better, and the ground was not so stripped of it's good stuff back then as it is now..

  6. Some may have, I suppose. I didn't even taken them 17 years ago.
