  1. My son's adoption was considered a "private" international adoption through an agency.  I chose that route because I wanted to be a Mom to a child and Guatemala just felt right in my heart.

  2. Agency- to make sure things were done legally.

  3. My parents adopted me aged 3 months through the State because they didn't want it to look as though they'd 'bought' me

Private adoption is illegal in most civilized countries

  4. My parents chose to adopt through foster care.  My brother was their foster son for about 3 years before the adoption was final, but in the end it was all worth it.  They got him at 1 year old, he is 12 now.  Not all foster children are adoptable, but its worth looking into. Good luck!

  5. We adopted privately. The bio mom actually found us so there was no reason to proceed any other way.

ETA: The entire process was done ethically and legally and we each had separate attorneys and counseling.

  6. We went thru an agency.  We chose that way because we wanted the adoption to be lawful and ethical.  Sadly i didn't know about prospective first mother coercion.  I thought counseling would be a good thing for prospective first mothers.

  7. an agency.  we researched several until we found one that didn't require fees to be paid up front for pap's.  and one that we felt went about adoption in a legal and ethical mannor for everyone involved.    sadly we discovered during our research there aren't many agencies out there that do this.

  8. i want to adopt!

i want to have two biological children

    & 1 adopted one =)

sorry that i didn't answer your question

i'm too young to adopt right now

  9. We're using an agency as an intermediary between us and the state (we're adopting through foster care).  If I had known about all the c**p associated with adoption agencies when we started the process, we would have gone directly through the state.  As it was, the only reason we decided to use an agency was because we thought it would be faster.

    So much for that idea.
