If so, which company did you use and why did you decide to use them as opposed to another facility? THANK YOU!

  1. I didn't. My obgyn said she didn't and she just had a baby too. If she didn't I am pretty sure you wont need to.

  2. Nope

  3. i signed to give the blood & placenta to the NHS cord donors group (free national health service of the UK) because since I would like to have access to something that might save my child's life in the future, I would donate to save another baby's if needed.  We don't get to keep our own blood this way, only donate it.  Otherrwise it's only being discarded unless you pay to keep it for your own child privately. But, I had a c-section in the end and for some reason they don't take it then.

  4. I'm not going to.

  5. I am not going to bank mine, but I do plan to donate it. I worry that if the cord never needs to be used it will be wasted and another life will not have had the chance to use it.

  6. We didn't with our first child and now we regret it (she passed away from leukemia at 4 yrs old).  I can't say that her cord blood would have saved her, but it would have given her something else to fight with.

We have saved the blood from all of our other children.  We are in Canada and we used Lifebank because they are associated with Health Canada and their standards just seemed to be higher than others.  They also offered a one payment option (for 18 years).  This is what our parents gave as a gift when the kids were born.  They split the cost.  Best gift we ever got.

  7. I would if I had a baby

  8. Yes I did.  I used Cord Blood Registry because that's what my OB/Gyn's office suggested.

  9. We didn't - we did delayed cord clamping, so there wasn't enough to bank/donate. Delayed clamping is better for the baby (protects against anemia, less chance of hemorrhage, less need for transfusion). We decided that we'd rather have our son get use out of his cord blood for sure, at birth, when it would definitely benefit him rather than bank it for the future and very likely receive no benefit from it. YMMV.

  10. I did... it made sense to me that my baby's stem cells could definitely come in handy some day, especially with modern advances in technology.  (For curing diseases, etc.)  I chose CryoCell.  To be completely honest, I chose them first and foremost because they were the most reasonably priced.  Also, my sister and one of my close friends used that same company and they came recommended.  That was about 4 years ago.  I can't remember how much it was initially, but we pay 80.00 a year now for storage.  Unfortunately, I know they are much more expensive now than they were 4 years ago.  :(  Anyhow, it's a piece of cake for your OB to collect the blood, and a courier service fee is included in the price so they pick up the blood and transport it for you.  I would recommend doing it if you have the means.  Good luck to you!
