My son started school yesterday. He had a good first day. But I didn't have one so good my self. I worried all day long. When I went to pick him up I cried when I saw him. I was releaved to see him and that he was ok. I just wanted to know how you reacted when your child had their first day of school.

  1. I am pregnant with my first, so I haven't experienced this before.  However, I know I will be a total mess when my little one starts school!  I think it's totally normal.  I mean, I get upset leaving my dog at the groomer for crying out loud!  I hate to see the way I would be when my child starts school.

There are so many reasons that you would be upset.  You wonder about his well-being, if he's scared or having fun, if people are treating him okay...you also realize he's growing up.  He will now be introduced to the world outside of home and many things will influence him.  I think it's totally understandable.  There will be lots of stepping stones like this in his life.  It will probably never get easier unfortunately!

  2. When my oldest got on the bus for kindergarten, I drove to the school and secretly watched her get off and get into class. She was so with it, I couldn't believe my eyes.  I'm sure I got teary eyed (she'll be a freshmen this year), but it is really cool to see them do well at something we are worried about!

  3. The same, its a sign that you have a young person not a baby anymore and for some reason it makes moms want to leap for joy and cry for sorrow.  I think that lost feeling we sometime get is what leads us to have a second child.

Wait until you see him with his first girlfriend, the first time he asks for the keys to the car, the day he graduates from hight school.  You have a lot of emotion coming up so buy lots of tissue.

  4. When my son started daycare I actually took off of work the first day and I took him and he sai d by mom have a good day gave me a kiss.  I went in the hallway and creied like a baby then I came back a few times during the day which the daycare teachers said that i could do they actually have computer monitors so you can look in on the rooms and everytime he was playing or laughing which made me feel sooo much better, And then his first day of Kindergarten I followed the bus and watched him walk into the school he loved taking the bus but I drive him know.  So we will see what happens this year 1st grade.

  5. I am not a parent, but I have a nephew that I have seen everyday since the day he was born. He is 4 now and starting school in a couple weeks, and I know that I am going to cry the day he goes to school, and think about him all day long and go see him as soon as I get off of work that day. I am just trying to focus on knowing he is having fun and learning with all the other kids.

  6. When my oldest started kindergarden my second child started pre-school the same day so I found myself all of a sudden w/out 2 of my kids for the first time ever. It helped that they didn't cry, in fact my oldest was like ok I wanna make friends now scram, lol and my pre-schooler was anxiuos to explore his class so no tears and fears, but I avoided going home that whole day untill they got out of school, instead I ran erans all day, and took my time.....I couldn't bare going home and not seeing them there, I was afraid I might cry then. BUT when my son that had went to pre-school started 1rst grade he had a melt down, and had to be pryed from my arms so I could leave.........I cried and cried and cried.........I was so embaressed seeing fellow pto moms walking down the hall headed back to their cars and here I was w/ my poor boy with tears rolling down my eyes, lol I suppose it didn't help that I was preg. w/ my 5th child ....it only made the water works worse! But yeah those ladies were prob. wondering why I was crying as well, lol! Last year our third child started kindergarden and she did exellent, and we have one going to pre-school this year, so this will be interesting to see how he reacts.....I do not plan to wear any mascara!
