  1. Refuse to see the film because I refuse to pay any more money to anything that is even remotely connected with that over privileged woman and her cohorts

  2. I haven't seen it. I don't understand why we have a monarch. I Have NO time for them.

  3. I think Helen Mirren did a magnificent job in creating the character of the Queen. She revealed both the sympathetic side as well as the ice queen image.

It gave a better, more well rounded view of the events. And I can't say that I actually liked the Queen better, but I was a bit more content that there were two sides to the story and not just the one that the media was pushing. I always prefer to find the balance.

  4. It's only a film - a fictional account of that week. No outsiders can really know what happened in Balmoral or what the Queen really thought. I felt sorry for the Queen, being pressured into making that cringe-making speech about Diana. I have never understood the hysterical reaction of the public. I think this was namipulated & fueled by the media. I did admire Helen Mirren's performance.

  5. The Queen does an absolutely wonderful job of doing nothing easily definable whilst stealing our tax for no obvious reason. No one does it as well as she can, God bless her. You should see her house, it's like a palace!

  6. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie "The Queen". I cried, and was actually pretty depressed for a few days after seeing it. The images of Princess Diana and her tragic death were very moving. After viewing the film, I do think more highly of the Queen, because of all the stress and pressure constantly put on her. However, my opinion of Prince Philip plummeted even deeper, because of his attitude towards Diana.

  7. I heart that movie, and yea i cried!  I gained more respect for both the queen and frm. Prime min. Blair.

  8. RIGHT after the film I just didn't like her (I usually am quite fond of her) but the movie just got to me.  All that Stiff Upper Lip cr*p is just too much after a while.  Its like, you have a television AND YOUR USING IT, TAKE A HINT!  But they never did until after it was too late.  By that time, the damage was done to their reputations.  I mean, it was still appreciated, but set opinions had already been formed.

Now, I'm back to loving the Queen.  I hope for her the best and realize she has a thankless job.  I wish her well.

  9. I didn't cry, I got angry!  Maybe I just don't understand British society.  I thought the Queen was right on and kept getting a bloody nose for it.  I respect her more now than before.

  10. I felt the worst in that movie when the beautiful deer was hanging fron the roof dead.

  11. The Queen was such a excellent film.HelenMirren portrait the Queen so well  one would have thought that we were really watching the real one.I thought the incident with the Land Rover going through the creek and stopping dead was unreal, i didn't know royals look under any thing. The most marvellous scene was definitely when the queen had seen the deer and shoo it off so it wouldn't be shot ,but when on another ocassion  we see the queen heading towards the hunt man cottage because one of them was shot. But then enquired about the deer but not the lackie really made me upset. I thought it show a cold side of the queen But honestry   no  one could take any thing away from Helen MIrren.

  12. I think it gave people a much better understanding and insight of how much pressure the Queen was under in a situation which had no precedent for her to follow. It gave a better understanding of how the Queen must comply with a set of unwritten rules that apply to the monarchy. I'm sure we had a greater sympathy for her, in the difficult situation she found herself in.

I don't know if Prince Philip really took the princes out deer stalking at that time, but I think that killing that beautiful creature was about the last thing they should have been seeing, right after their mother's death.

  13. I loved that movie.  I don't think I cried, but I did get a little teary when the little girl gave her the flowers...I think it does give some insight into the queen's side of things.

  14. Metaphorically I cried at the depressing thought that in 2007 people are still infatuated with a bunch of fancy freeloaders, who have suckled on the teat of the working class for centuries.

And no, we do not like the queen better, period.

  15. oh i cried! i thought the queen was quite harsh through out the movie but realized that she can't always make decisions with her heart so she used her mind and set aside the emotional aspect. when the little girl did give her the flowers, i bawled like a little baby. loved the movie
