Did you cry when your baby did something for the first time?

last night my 3 month old son suddenly started laughing right before storytime for the first time, he is normally cranky but for some reason he got a huge smile and just busted out laughing! i could feel his little body shaking because his giggles were so strong. my husband came in and i was crying my head off and hugging my baby soo tight. did this overwhelming emotion happen to anyone else? what did your baby do?

i cried with happiness when my daugter said her first word and when she began to walk. those are the things you will never forget.

Yes! I cried the first time he laughed, smiled, rolled over and cooing! It has been so fun to watch him grow, I can't wait for the other fun stuff to come- crawling, walking, talking!

wow reading that just made me tear up. thinking back to all his frist makes me cry but at the time i was so excited about most things that i just wanted to see him do it again! the first time he said Mum I cried though... he has never really called me Mama its always been Mum. :) And the first time he said it he wasnt babbling or anything, we were lying on my bed cuddling and he looked up at me, right in the eyes and said "Mum" and then smiled... it was so awesome!

I understand your emotions. However, I would jump up and down, clap loudly and laugh like an idiot.

I'm definately guilty of that one. My son hit two big milestones in one day. He rolled over from his belly too his back AND did his first real laugh-out-loud laugh. I started hysterically crying...it was wonderful!

I assume it will only get worse as the milestones get bigger.

totally. she is the only reason i cry with happiness. id never done that before. also when i got her vaccinated, i cried and cried when they stuck the needle in, i swear i felt a real physical pain as i knew someone was hurting her. i cried longer than her, honestly!
