We didn't name our son straight away in hospital - we had vague idea of his name but wanted to be sure it suited him for a few days before saying yes that's the one.

In my sleep deprived state I ended up calling him "lickle mouse" which is awful as I HATE baby talk but I was exhausted (he slept but no other babies on the ward did & we were in for ages!)

I called him this because of his behaviour when he's hungry - he really is like a mouse snuffling for food. Now it has stuck and I call him it all the time, he will think that's his name soon!

  1. My son was born covered in fine blonde hairs - a bit like a peach - so i called him "fluff" it was really cute!!

I then started calling him "baby bear" as his favorite story was the 3 bears!! I am now expecting baby number 2 and he will become "brother bear"!!!!

  2. My 4 month old girl is called Bobbi May but she seem's to have got the nickname 'wobberly bob' which is going to be awful for her when she gets bigger lol

  3. hiya when u was born and up until i was about 5 i was a chubby baby so my mum used to call me fatty luntis in no way did it ever bother me and i still always new my name was lauren and even now she still calls me by my nickname but it doent bother me as i find it still quite endearing even in my 20's

  4. Oh, my daughter has a ton!  Elsie is her real name, but she will go by Sie Sie.  I call her Sies, Sie Sie Bird (she constantly has her tongue sticking out and flicks it around like a baby bird when she sees a bottle), Siesel, Shuggs, Stinks, Boo P Boo, and Sweats.  My husband calls her Sie Sie Bird, Sies, Sweats, Baby Girl, Sweat Pea, and Beautiful.

  5. I'm not a parent, but my mum used to call me mouse then Minnie Mouse then Minnie, then Min, and then it was like a mixture of all which, eventually turned in to Moose.

So, at 15, my whole family call me Min or Moose. Hardly anyone in my family calls me Karis, which is my name.

  6. My daughters name is Laila I sometimes call her Lala or Lila.

  7. My daughter's name is madeleine and we often call her Madeleine moo, stink bum, or boo. Calll us softies, but its our way of showing affection.LOL. I think your nickname is really very sweet.

  8. my son is 1 today  his name is LEWIS  but i always call him LULU.. i hope he doesn't get bullied if it sticks right up to him going to school.

  9. ha! i have NO idea why, but early on, i started calling ruby "cha cha lulu." seriously. talk about delirious. this became just "cha cha lu" and now i just call her "chach" or "chachi." it stuck for me. i also call her "angel face", which often gets shortened to "ange." of course, we also call her "ruber." (me, her dad, her grandma). her dad, my hubby, calls her all sorts of things involving "cake" or "cupcake." for example, he calls her "cupcakes of love," "lovecake," plain old "cupcake" and "sweetcake." my best friend calls her "ruby roo," so in my blog i refer to her as only "roo." another of our close friends calls her "rubinator." so, to answer your question: yes. ruby has far too many nicknames. all of them ridiculous!

  10. My poor daughter is called Gerkin (my craving while pregnant) and Bubba which came from her not being able to say her name or baby but calling herself Bubba (eg saying Bubba while holding her arms out to you means she ants a cuddle), so Lickle mouse is quite normal in comparison!

  11. yeah but its pretty boring. His name is Oliver and and I call him Olly. That's it, I'm afraid. I used to get called Lala and Ally Bally by my parents. Til I was about 14!

  12. My 6 months old is all chubby with a big belly. So I started to call him Buddha, then Peste, and it turned into Budapest!

    Nobody gets it!

  13. My daughters middle name is Ruth & as a baby I started calling her Roo (as in Roo from Winnie The Pooh).  Shes 8 now & I still call her it. Although I sometimes call her Roob or Ruby. But she will answer to both her nickname & her real name.

  14. i have loads of nicknames for my daughter, they just come out of nowhere!her name is Leona but her nicknames are Loo Loo, Chubs, McAlooloo and many more!she wont know her real name as she has so many nicknames lol

  15. I used too and still do call mine Twin One and Twin Two which they called them when they were born in the operating room ...i still shout 'Twin one' and i can here Kylie say 'What have i done now' lol

  16. My kids are G Unit and Harry Barry

Emily was Emmy, she hates that now :)

  17. When I was pregnant I called my bump 'Geoff' as it sounded like the right thing to call it (Geoffrey T. Bumpington was its full title!). I was like you though and didn't name my son until he was about 4 days old, he is called Evan, but most of the time I call him Spud or Sponge Bob Square Face as when he is upset his face goes all square - its hilarious.

My dad still calls me Toots all the time (I am 31!!!). If he is in a very good mood he will even call me Tootsie Wootsie...

  18. My mom and dad called me MoonMonkey

coz i looked like a little monkey without gravity in my baby bouncer!

  19. That is a cute story. My little one is only 8 weeks old and she has the chubbiest checks in the world!! And she has these eyes that make a room brighter, so I call her my bright eyes chubby checks Tristen.

  20. LOL...we did the "booger butt" thing, too! I call Ian "Squirt"...we were calling him "Peein Ian" because he peed in your face everytime you changed a diaper! We called my other son "Linda" (Linda Blair, from the Excorcist) because he thrashed his head back and forth every time he was hungry. Ian got stuck with "bobble head" since he bobs his head on your shoulder when he wants to eat! Silly names don't stick with them....lol. Try to call him by his real name more often as he gets older, though. Don't want to confuse him!

  21. Hi lol well even thought my baby isnt born yet but due soon, I am 37 weeks at the moment, I have a name for him and a nick name, the nick name is what we were calling him/her, its a him, before we found out what s*x he was was I was calling him   'bubbles' this is because all I wanted to drink was fizzy pop,and I still call him it now we have named him and probably will do when he is born, we have settles on Lucas as his name as we both love it.

  22. Hi

Like your son, our daughter only snuffled, she did not really cry in the first few months. We nicknamed her 'Mrs Snuffleofougous'! Not sure if that is how you spell it, never had to write it before LOL.

  23. my best friend calls her son "booger butt" so now we call him that all the time...or boog, or booga...lol..its really cute and it fits him for some reason. i told her he's gonna think thats his name lol....

  24. Bookie (Boo-key) Bear and Woogie

    7 1/2 month old daughter

  25. we always knew my daughter would be called Isabella and before she was born she got the nickname Belly. After she was born, it stuck for a while but just kind of turned into Bella. After 3 years her older brother still calls her Belly- I hope he always will :)

  26. I nicknamed my son 'little chicken' when he was born because of the way he would lie down (you know how it is with newborns, they kinda look like a chicken ready to go in the oven) and he had skinny little arms like chicken wings. Now he is chubbier he doesn't really suit that nickname.

Now i just call him my cheeky chappy because he loves to charm everyone he meets with his lovely smile and he has the cutest little laugh in the world.

  27. lol...my daughters name is beautiful but I just ended up calling her this lil pet name when she was born and now that is all everyone calls her name. Yeah we call her her name sometimes but normally just the pet name. She knew her name when she got older but now she still goes by both. It just something cute that I think most parents do. Good luck!

  29. i call my daughter stinky or stinky face (she doesn't smell and never did, not sure where it came from) those are the ones i really use, i have other like cuddle bear and little cute things like that but shes my stinky!

  30. Try to use his real name as soon as you can. My cousin was known as "chicken" and when he started primary school he told the class that his name was Chicken Mc Cartney. He is now forty years old and still gets loads of grieff about his silly nickname!!!

  31.
