Question:

Did you enjoy Dehli?

Hi. My husband may have to go to Dehli for a couple of weeks for work. I know very little about India, and have never been. Is it worth it for me to tag along?

He will be working in the day so how practical is it for a woman to sightsee in the city alone? And what can I see? I'm a pretty competent traveler.

We would of course like to visit the Taj Mahal, but I'm curious about other things as well.

I'm going to do some searches and in the meantime would really appreciated any personal experiences.

Thanks!!

  1. You must go. It is a beautiful city. You can easily do sightseeing alone there. English is very common. I will advise know not to venture out alone late night (take it just a safety precaution, not a threat)

You can visit Red fort, Qutub Minar in Delhi. Tajmahal,Agra (around 300km),Jaipur (250km), jaisalmer(400km) are other good places near delhi.

  2. It is sooo worth it.  One of the best things you will ever do in your life.  There are women out and about all day.  But you should contract an English speaking taxi driver and he will take you to all the markets and sights.  Markets are the best.  beautiful, clothing and jewelry for a pittance.  Sounds, smells, colors...it's just mind boggling.  I had been to about 4 times but I am still discovering new Delhi.  But May to October or so is very hot.  Dusty as well.  Try not to eat or drink from street vendors.
