I just can't believe how the voters kick UGA from the #1 spot after only 1 week, wow. Did UGA got the short end of the stick here? I guess the voters was more impress with USC team victory over UVA than UGA victory over a 1AA Georgia Southern. What do you think of the voters putting USC at #1 again over UGA?

yeah they kind of let Georgia Southern score 21 on them and USC dominated Virginia however the SEC is still the better conference

how do they pad their schedules when they have the toughest schedules bar none! tennesse just played ucla cup cake right.... and its hard as h**l for a sec team to make it to the national champ b/c they knock each other off so if 2 other teams go undefeated and are in a major conference the sec teams arent goin

Whine and complain about what you imagine to be the media bias towards USC but the fact of the matter is SEC teams have the power to solidify their place atop the BCS rankings but they're too cowardly to play any team that isn't in Div 1AA and outside their region on their OOC schedule.

The so called "bias" you whiners speak of is merely just the media getting wise to the SEC' habit of padding their schedules with cupcake opponents.  USC will play anyone, anywhere.  The media knows this and deservedly, they will continue to reward USC as long as they keep on winning.

usc jumped to #1 becasue they accutally played somone in a good confrence and the bulldogs played georgia southern and olny beat them by 24 points USC went to virgina to play a good virgina team and they beat them by 45 points omg now u wonder why USC is #1

Did you hear? The National Championship Trophy was looted from LSU Atheletic Department during the hurricane... They looked everywhere and finally tracked it down to Athens GA...

To be honest I don't like either team and would like nothing better than to see one of them upset along the way.  You can throw Ohio State into that bunch as well.  The arrogance of some the fans is sickening and classless.

Now as far as the polls goes, I feel like this:  Does it matter where anyone is ranked at this juncture of the season?  Absolutely not to answer my own question.  I feel that polls shouldn't come out until about late October or early November or after teams have truly been tested and played a few games (about 8-9 games) Then you would have a true and more accurate poll.  As you have already noticed, Clemson #9 and Va Tech #17 were beaten in week one, so there are your polls for you.  Certain teams are almost always automatically ranked even though they don't really deserve it based on their reputation before the season even begins and it's ridiculous.

Voting needs to return to the way it use to be. coaches and media. The current BCS system is flawed and latent with controversy.

USC is such a crock of ****.  It just goes to show you how meaningless and arbitrary the polls are early in the season.  Apparently stomping the guts out of an aweful Illinois team in a boll game and whupping on pansy Virginia warrants a number one spot.  WEST COAST SPORTS WRITER BIAS.  THOSE a******s LOST TO STANFORD LAST YEAR.  Gimme a break.

Georgia won only 45-21(not a good way to start a season as #1 team)

You need to watch USC highlights, they were AMAZING and flawless.  They had soo many different guy score, and that says alot about their team.  Also they are both awsome at passing and rushing, also one of the best if not, the best defense in the country.

I agree with the other Florida Gator fans it's good to see a rival drop.  But this poll means nothing anyways. The only poll that counts is the BCS poll. That is the poll that decides what teams play what bowl games.

Well, what else would you expect from the national sports media?

Back in 2005, when USC was playing Texas for the Natl. Champ., all we heard was how USC would win and win big. No one gave the Horns a chance because, after all, it was USC they were playing. They're the media's darlings with all the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. In the weeks leading up to the game, ESPN gave Texas virtually no coverage; it was "all-USC, all the time". Lee Corso was he ONLY one to pick Texas to win.

Yes, your Bulldogs got hosed, and it's neither right nor fair. But like I said: what else would you expect?

Who didn't see this coming?  The media will always vote USC number 1 as long as they're undefeated.  I was honestly a little surprised when USC wasn't the #1 team in the preseason polls.
