  1. EEW i wouldnt eat food out of it -_-

but yeah haha ive wanted to just like in the movies

  2. yes

  3. I've never dumpster dived for food, but I've dumpster dived alot for other stuff.

I carpeted my entire basement & porch with thrown-out carpet squares from when the 3rd floor of the office building I work at was remodeled.

I got a perfectly good 5-disc/AM-FM/tape stereo with detachable speakers out of the same dumpster.

I got a sleeping bag with an air mattress insert out of a dumpster near my old apartment.

The list goes on & on....

    Dumpster diving is great!

  4. haha one time my dad took the toilet our neighbors were throwing out from their garbage to replace one that had a huge crack in it at our house!

  5. No, but I find it interesting that the majority of older people that do are extremely wealthy.  Their generation is so worried about saving money that they don't spend any.

  6. no, only poor people do that.

  7. No but I want to. Have you?

  8. I thought dumpster diving was also grabbing anything in a dumpster.  I have done that where I work .   Sometimes they throw repairable items ( I grabbed an aluminum baking rack on wheels that needed a s***w drilled out and replaced) and tons of cardboard.  I grab the boxes for moving occassionally and so do others.

Take note of your local laws.  Modesto, CA just passed a law that the police can fine you $100 or $500 depending on what they find you phishing for.  The larger fine is for identity theft info,  the smaller for cans, plastics, just about anything.

  9. I would if no one sees me doing it.

  10. Skip surfing we called it (not for food obviously). Between me and my friends we found; over a kilometer of cat5e cable, several Pentium 2/3 systems (this was about 3 years ago), a dual Pentium server, a neXTcube, a couple of SPARCstations, a projector, more than ten CRT monitors, enough PS2 mice & keyboards to fill a cupboard, enough tables and chairs to furnish two four-person flats, two sofas and literally boxes of miscellaneous cables, CPUs, PCI cards and RAM.

All this in mint condition, and most of it sold on ebay. God bless skips.

  11. Nope. I never have.

  12. I would love to try to dumpster dive - and I am not being sarcastic. It seems like a great way to conserve food and really expose how much perfectly good food is thrown out daily. I wouldn't eat a half eaten piece of meat, but I would certainly eat other things. I have dumpster dived for furniture - I don't know if that counts =)

  13. sure I found a set of new car speakers,gold chains,new towels,candles garage sale leftovers,Christmas decorations (I don't look for food tho)

  14. not for food but when the college kids moved out of their rentals for the year I did...I got a mini fridge and some cool stuff. They just dont want to take it with them because of the room factor.
