  1. You need to go and see your college counselor, they are trained to point you in the right direction.

  2. Are you attending school in the US or another country?  By the way you reference "university" I am guessing abroad?  At US schools we have career centers that not only offer job listings, but can help you identify your skills and strengths as well as which career paths match those.  If you don't have this resource available, try to find an assessment tool called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which will ask you a bunch of questions (no wrong answers) and then give you some options as to which careers might interest you most.  Some people think of this test as a "personality" test, but that really sells it short in my opinion.

There are other "tests" that can do the same thing, but the MBTI is probably the best known here in the US.  Try a web search and I bet you will come up with something useful.  It may not be a perfect fit, but at least a start.  Also take advantage of internship opportunities.  They are often a superb way to explore career opportunities and refine your interests and skills.

    Good luck,

    Holly

  3. Quite a few people do.  And many (most?)people end up changing their major while in college.  It's very difficult to know at 18 what you will want when you're 20.  College will change you, you'll gain the ability to have views you are unable to now.

That's why freshman courses are general, and why colleges have career couselors.  So follow your interests but don't get too crazy - you're not making an irrevocable choice in your first year.  And enjoy all the crazy parties!

  4. Honestly, I think the majority of entering freshman are in the same boat as you are. Even when I started college, I ended up changing my mind (and I thought going into it I was dead sure I knew exactly what I wanted to do).

Don't stress about it before you've even stepped foot into a class. Take some different courses and see what you like the best...even classes you've never taken before. You might be surprised what you find you like.

If you're thinking of a business degree ask yourself what you like about that field. Is there a specific industry that catches your attention? If psychology is on your list, ask yourself why. Do you like working with people? Do you want a career that is all about helping others, even if the pay isn't the greatest?

Don't fret. I am sure once you get settled into university and you're able to take some different classes you will start to figure out what you do and don't like.
