Did you ever have vacation plans go horribly wrong?

awww, that's too bad! My vacation plan fizzled out this year. ) '=

We ended up going out of state on family business, not a vacation at all.  It was all work, but at least we were all together.  The real vacation I had planned I had to cancel because my son couldn't get any more time off his part-time job to go away the following week.  Geez, you'd think he was indispensable or something!

cancelled my backpacking trip due to chicken pox and spend almost 2 weeks at home :(

I personally haven't had a vacation go wrong, but my dad did.

He and his friend were in Alaska when the 9-11 attacks happened and he and his friend bought a few plane tickets to go fly all over Alaska for fishing and stuff (he also had to pay for the fishing/hunting places), but since all the planes were grounded he had to stay in one area of Alaska and not be able to do what he and his friend already paid to do. The money for his plane tickets and fishing/hunting events weren't refunded, either.
