  1. Richard Teichman a famous chess master from 100 years ago once said "chess is 99% tactics"  if you are serious about improving you chess skills you should spend 15 mins each day solving chess problems.  Back in the day newspapers always had a chess column with puzzles to solve not so much today so here are some links regarding chess problems you might like


  2. Chess problems aren't the same as game positions to be solved.

    Problems are usually artificial constructs that would rarely, if ever, occur in an actual game (but they're still fun to try and solve!)

    I would say that "White to play and mate in two" are less useful for improving your game than "How did X win in this position?"

  3. Yes.  In fact, reading chess books, journals, and newspapers blindfold is one of best ways to get better.
