Took one of the job ones which tell you the type of job your best suited to and found that to be very accurate.

I took a Scientology one once, just out of curiosity. The results indicated that I really needed Scientology. Strange.

MMPI (Minnesota Multi-Personality Inventory).

It wasn't flattering, therefore; bad inventory.

They ask you lots of questions about yourself, including what you are like and what kinds of things you like to do.  Then, they calculate your scores on various "dimensions" such as extraversion and conscientiousness.  Most will try to combine your dimension scores into an overall personality profile to tell you what you're generally like and what your strengths and weaknesses might be.

Yes, When I was a distributor for a direct sales company called AMWAY, there were several self improvement books that we were required to read. Among them was "Personality Plus" by Florence Littauer. This book described the Four key personality types and included a Free Personality test in the front. Amazing as it seemed, this test was actually very accurate and it caused me to reevaluate all of my family members, friends and acquaintances, and look at them in a new and favorable light. I've written a blog which contains the test and evaluates the results.

They can never really tell what your personality is like they just assume
