Keep trying to 'save' people, listen to toxic people's problems only to realise that they were burdening you and they wasn't helping themselves?

My old college teacher told me something that I'd never forget:

'It is good to help people, but help people too much, keep giving and not receiving will make you feel resentful and bitter. You need to know when to stop and when to give'

  1. A good lesson I learnt was "if you give, don't grudge"

I believe your professor meant that you shouldn't make a victim of yourself in your effort to be helpful to others. Treat yourself as well as you treat everyone else and you won't go wrong.

  2. I once saved a badger from getting run over :]

I like to think that I'm a help, but I understand what your professor is saying!

  3. yep, all the time.
