The one where the 'Wife' is actually a New York Deli guy and he kisses the husband good day, think it was Heinz and has been banned now due to complaints, what were your thoughts on it ?

I thought it was wrong in a way when I saw it, as I thought there was no need to show the guys kissing, if they had of shown a woman first, who then morphed into a 'New York Deli guy', I think it would have been ok, if you get what I mean, but they didn't.

  1. never seen it

  2. Is that all you have to worry about??????????

    lol

  3. To those who are anti g*y, it is surely inappropriate.

To those who are g*y, or are not offended by people being g*y, is is not offensive, or inappropriate.

It is all in the eye of the beholder.

I personally did not mind the commercial.

  4. As you probably know by now, it was taken off yesterday because there were so many complaints that it would offend young people.

Of course, these are the same young people who walk the streets carrying knives and guns in case somebody offends them............

  5. I don't like g**s, I don't like watching g*y things or seeing g**s kiss (very rare) but I can't see how it is inappropriate. If the state is prepared to recognise civil partnerships and generally, people are of the mindset 'as long as they don't involve me' or 'I don't care' or 'g**s are harmless' or 'live and let live.' then why is it inappropriate?

Hypocritical to pull the plug if you ask me.

And like I said, I don't like the g*y thing, I think it is wrong, I don't like it that people should feel in the wrong to say so or say it is 'unnatural' - you should be able to do that - but I wouldn't discriminate - which is what this advert is doing.

  6. I cant believe that people were offended by it. I dont find it inappropriate at all

  7. It was fine, just a bit of fun. People who complain need to get a life!

  8. oh you mean that mayonnaise advert... which was basically saying the mum turned into a top chef whenver she used the mayonnaise.

I didn't find it offensive at all, but I do agree with you, they should have shown how the mother morphed into the chef when she was in the kitchen, because i didn't get the ad at all the first few times i watched i just thought it was dumb.

  9. I think the advert is really funny

how homophobic do you have to be to find it inappropriate?

  10. There was a thing about it on the radio last night. 200 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority, apparently, which was enough to spook the Heinz Corporate parent company in the US, who instructed the European end to pull the advert. When I first saw it I was more than a little surprised since it was so unexpected and also pre-watershed, but then I thought that it was a pretty progressive thing to do, and I applauded it.

It's a bit sad that 3.1 million g*y people in the UK will now not know which brand to buy, don't you?

  11. Never even seen it!

  12. Wouldn't really bother me.  There's a lot worse adverts on telly like the ones trying to persuade old people to remortgage their houses to finance companies.  A couple of blokes snogging doesn't really compare.

  13. No, I don't find it inappropriate what so ever.  We live in a country that has same-s*x marriage so how can we ban an advert with 2 men kissing?

Talk about sending kids mixed messages.

(And I'm sure there wouldn't have been so many complaints if it had been two hot women!)

  14. That commercial was as nasty as some of these liberal politicians.

  15. I saw the advert. I thought it was a bit rubbish, but I didn't take offence to it.  I think your right, it isn't obvious enough that the bloke is actually the mum/wife.  When I first watched it I thought that when the husband went to kiss him, he would turn into a woman.

  16. I thought it was absolutely brilliant and brave of Heinz to do and cowardly of them to pull.

I shan't buy their products as a result.

  17. Oh no, you seen 2 men kissing. Get the pitchforks and lets go kill me some q****s.

Sigh, it is only an advert

  18. As an advertising scientist i find the ad firstly a load of c**p.

From a brand marketing perspective however Heinz have hit the jackpot.

This will be reflected in the rocketing sales of New York deli over the following weeks and months.

  19. I've never seen it, but I wouldn't find it inappropriate if I had. What's wrong with two men kissing? As a previous poster said, there wouldn't be half as many complaints if they were women.

  20. Its not offensive at all people need to get a life and stop moaning about everyday normal things and am sure if it would have been two half naked women kissing, nobody would have had a problem with it! What does that say about the world we live in?

  21. Yes, the art of good advertising is not to upset any people - it just does not make good business sense. Depending on the product u have to target yr buyers, now this product is not just for g**s, anybody can buy it so what was the point in having this type of advert. It should have been more general advert (that would have been the clever thing to do) to appeal to a greater audience so that they would sell more of their product.

Good grief - u wouldnt think u would have to point that out to advertisers - how much money r they paid.

I suppose the idea was the if they made it controversial that it would get talked about and noticed and people would buy more of it.

So in making this type of advert they knew it would be controversial.

Will that work? (with some it might, I just get bored by this type of thinking) I would not now buy it - why would I want to give them the profits for such c**p thinking!

  22. How small minded do you have to be to find that inappropriate? I think that is just disgusting on the complainers part, how sad must their lives be to have to complain about an advert for mayo just because two guys have a quick peck? Ive seen worse in the pub on a saturday night!
