I saw on the news that all 86 PaPa John's in Ohio offered one 23 cent pizza to each person that came into the store. The corporate headquarters said it was a way they could appologize for making T-shirts with LeBron James No.23 and the word "Crybaby".

  1. I got mine yesterday. I just had a leftover piece for lunch today! It was yum :)

  2. Nope, I am in Florida. I just had Papa Johns and paid $25.00 for everything. I wish they'd do that here.

  3. Wow that's awesome! So maybe the Papa John's in Saint Louis will make T-shirts stating that Albert Pujols is a crybaby and then apologize by offering 5 cent pizzas! That was stupid wasn't it Crispy? I just get carried away sometimes, sorry

  4. No but I work in a store right next to Papa John's.  I personally think it was a horrible idea.  First off Papa John's disconnected their phone lines so you had to stand in line to get your pizza.  The day before behind the store, I saw a truck unloading pizzas premade that would just be heated up (not fresh made.)  You can only get large pepperoni or sausage.  There was a 4 hour wait from the back of the line.  The police were also called numerous times.  A couple cars got hit in the parking lot, people were trying to park in a funeral home parking lot (while a wake was taking place), and there were a couple of drunk guys trying to cut the line and their were fights.  In my opion, anyone who stands 4 hours in line for pizza is a moron.  The people standing in line were all obnoxious and rude.  And that is my first person account of the 23 cent Papa John's pizza day.

  5. Yes, I did. Had to stand in line for about an hour but figured that would happen. My son and I went to pick it up and got verbally accosted by another customer who was very irate about the wait. Tried to ignore it, ended up leaving with my pizza, only to be verbally attacked by this woman outside!

I turned back around, went into the store to complain (because let's be real: this woman was mad because of a situation put into play by Papa John's, not me. I was just bearing the brunt of it) and got screamed at by the manager because it had been a bad day. She literally came out from behind the counter and screamed at me and the other customers in the store!! I have sent in a complaint with their feedback form online, left a voicemail at corporate and a voicemail on their complaint line. This is ridiculous! Honestly, if this happened elsewhere in Ohio today, I'd bet they lost MORE business than they stood to lose to begin with.

    Ridiculous.

  6. No we just got some pizzas from donatos cuz its way better and the line at papa johns was over 2 hours. But i saw  a lot of my guy friends there. Who knows why.. They are crazy about almost free pizza...

  7. Yes. Me and 3 of my coworkers went around 11 to get 4 of them (one each) and share with everyone.  We were probably the fourth in line.  But we had to wait an hour because they didnt open the doors until 12.  I dont think the pizza's were made the day before, I could see into the shop and I saw them making them.  When we left there was a line wrapped around the block. I live in youngstown. I was so happy they had it here too and not just cleveland. :)

  8. I went and it wasn't that bad at all. I went for the principle of it, not for the pizza itself. Papa John's isn't my favorite pizza, but you can't beat 23 cents. My wait time was about 1 1/2 hrs, but it went by quickly. I didn't run into all the drama that I've seen on the news..a few people tried to cut in line but we put a stop to that. They were taking phone orders initially, but thankfully got the hint that it would make much more sense to only offer a few selections. When I finally got in the store, they had cheese ready so I took it. All in all, not a bad experience at all and I contributed to charity in the process.

  9. Pizzapology turns into Pizzapocalypse Now

I live in Akron and only drove by for the comic effect. It was like watching a documentary on the LA riots. The people who showed up devolved into a bunch of sub-Neanderthals. Folks were running out into the road and yelling, screeching like the denizens of some Third World nation (I wouldn't have been shocked to see burning tires and overturned cars).

At the store at the corner of East Market and Buchtel, they had police tape up and APD crusiers (apparently some fight or mob development). I won't be surprised if I hear tomorrow that some guy was killed over a 23 cents pizza that probably tasted like cardboard anyway. That's Northern Ohio for you.

After watching this fiasco a bit, I went to a real restaurant and got pasta and pizza. The server said that business was booming, mainly because suburbanites had checked out the and decided they didn't want to be mugged. In particular, for a substandard pizza that is not even worth the time invested (even at min wage) to get it. Ironically, I doubt any of the regular customers who are Cavs fans went. It looked more like a homeless shelter near the stores. Seriously, you could've gotten in line to get food stamps faster...

  10. Shucks! I wish i lived in Ohio. But no i live in Kansas and they didn't have the 23 cent pizza deal

  11. NOPE

My time is worth more than the savings. People are standing in line for 3-4 hours.

I heard on WMMS that the pizzas were made a day or so ago. People are calling in saying the pizza is chewy, like rubber. I guess the sauce soaks into the dough from sitting over night.

I can get a REAL pizza - Large/1 topping - on Wednesdays from a local pizza restaurant (Alphonso's in Middleburgh Hts.)  for $4.00, and it tastes 100% better than Papa Johns.

  12. No, i live in Florida, but if i had been there i would have gotten me one or two.

  13. i never heard of that

    was the pizza gross?

    cool n e wayzzzzz.........
