Did you get a car when you turned 16?

My mom is planning on getting me one when I turn 16. Not a new car or anything just a safe used car. and I was wondering if it was normal?

No. I'm 20 and still don't have a car, but it's my choice to not have one.

I think it's normal.  We have a car that no one uses and it just sits in the driveway, so when I get my license, it will be mine.  Wh00t, WHooT!

I bought my own car about 9 months after I turned 16. I am 17 now. It is normal for a parent, if they have money, to want to buy their child a car. My parents didn't have the money but if they did they would have bought me one.

Oh there is no way I'm getting a car for my 16th birthday, my mom doesn't believe in tv's in kids/teens rooms and I'll be lucky to even get my dad's old car (which is a buick, the one you always see old people driving). It sucks but that's life and I've been saving up my money for a few years, and I think I'll have enough to buy something used when I'm 16.

Well im 15 and Im getting a car soon...it probly wont run and I will have to fix it up but thats ok.

i got my dad's 'old' (well 4 yr) company car.  most of the girls at my school drive saabs, audis, bmw, the occasional mercedes or convertable...

but most of the girls either got a brand new car for or BEFORE their birthdays.  

i have a toyota 4 runner and im just glad i got a car :)

All of my friends got used cars when they turned 15. I think it's normal.

i got one on my 15th birthday because the cars my parents owned they felt weren't safe enough and to expensive for my to start driving in.

so i got a new volvo because it is 5 star crash test rated and it will last me until I'm out of college at least maybe longer.

My dad got me a car when I turned 16. It definitely wasn't the car I wanted, but it was a car! I think that's pretty standard.

No I didn't but I am in Australia and we don't get our license til later over here. I got a car when I was almost 18, I bought my mum's old car from her, she sold it to me cheap though. Most people I know had after school hours jobs and saved up and bought their own first car.

I didn't get a car when I was 16.  I had to wait until I had worked and saved up enough money to pay for half of it.

Kids whose parents hand them everything learn nothing about hard work...
