Did people shop off of your registry or did you receive mostly things you didn't ask for/need?

  1. Most of the stuff I got was not on my registry. I did get the most important things though like a car seat. I also had plenty of gift certificates and did exchange a few things as well.

  2. It seems like each person did get at least one thing off of the registry because I included lots of little inexpensive things, but pretty much everyone brought clothes. I didn't get everything i needed but thankfully everythign that was expensive was a gift and i only had go purchase extra sheets, breast milk storage bags, soap, nail clippers etc.

  3. I just had my baby shower tonight, and I got mostly everything I needed. The only things I need to get still are bottles, breast pump, and the crib set that I want. When you send out the invites just make sure that you list where you are registered at. Most of my stuff came right off the registry.

  4. I lucked out and got pretty much everything on my registry. However my friends that were there said I was really lucky because at their showers they only got a few of the things they registered for!

  5. got a good amount of stuff off registry and a good amount NOT on it. Either way we got some really cute outfits & other things. We didn't register for a bouncer but received one. That thing has been our saving grace let me tell you!!

  6. I pretty much got everything I registered for, for both my wedding and my baby showers. When I went in to close it out the person was shocked at how little was left on it, said they never saw someone get almost everything they registered for, I seriously only had one or two little things left on there.

Now, my family/friends are not rich, in fact, some of them don't have much money at all, but I still ended up with oodles of stuff. I think the key is to not put a million things that you don't need on there, keep the price points reasonable (I didn't register for things like a crib as I don't feel it's right to ask someone else to purchase such huge items although I did do stroller, car seat etc.) and, the biggest thing? Don't tell anyone the s*x of your baby, especially if you're having a girl. If you do, you're going to get mostly clothes, because who can resist the adorable things they have out there? :) But, if you really want/need the things on the registry and need help purchasing them, this is the best way to get them. People aren't as drawn to gender neutral stuff for some reason. Our son was a surprise and I only got a handful of clothing items at my shower, and honestly, it's the other stuff that's so darn expensive.

Oh, one other thing that may help, is pass the word among your close relatives, I only told my mom, that you don't need any receiving blankets or bibs. Seriously, people bring TONS of these to showers and there's only so many you need. I literally have an entire drawer full of bibs even though the word was "spread" that I didn't need any. :)

  7. First off, I am very grateful for all that I received. However, I did not receive a lot of items that I did need. I know that everyone likes buying baby clothes but I work for Children's Place and she had tons of clothes. Again, I appreciate it but I wish they would have not bought the clothes(which I specifically asked them to not buy) and bought more items from my registry.

  8. I had about 100 items on my registery and received about 10 of those items. People also bought items that were similar to what was on the registry such as different brands of bottles. Most people gave me gift reciepts and I returned most everything I got so I could buy what I did need. I also got a lot of clothes (not as much as I thought I would) and I'm sorry to tell you, but a lot of people have bad taste.
