  1. I bought my wedding dress when I was 16 for $40 at a trash and treasure store! It's absolutely stunning and doesn't have a single mark on it, and fitted perfectly.

I'm not one that gets plugged into the whole big white wedding thing so I'm excited to wear it to my wedding.

I am adding to it though, as I would like a train and this dress doesn't have one, and I'd like lace and beading as well.

So my dress will be half-bought, half custom-made.

  2. No -- I wore my mother's wedding dress.  It was gorgeous.

My veil was custom .... I made it myself.

  3. I am getting married May '09....and I am having mine custom made.  I just think its more meainingful!  You can design it, just the way you want it!!! Good Luck!

  4. My mother made mine, so I guess the answer is yes.

  5. It hasn't been made yet, but I'm going to have a custom wedding dress.  My fiance's aunt is a designer and wants to make my dress as a gift, so all I have to pay for is the material.  I already know what kind of skirt I want and I'm trying to figure out what I want for my bodice.

  6. Yes. I have made my own dress. I love the idea of having a beautiful dress that no one else has. It has been very time consuming fastening all of the bead work but it is very well worth it.

  7. No, i am only 14 but i totally think if ur considering it...go for it.

Weddings are meant to be the one day were you get to feel like a princess...and the dress it the main bit.

Wedding dresses are also really expensive, so may as well get something you ADORE!!!

I wanna design dresses when i am older and have a love of drawing and fashion... anddd i have been working on my prom dress already  !! hehhe yay

  8. I bought off the rack and had it customized to my liking

  9. No, it would have been way too expensive. I would rather spend the budget on other things.

Got a floor stock designer wedding dress (which I absolutely love) for only AUD$500 (it was discounted from about $2500). If I had that dress custom made, would have costed $3000+. I did visit a designer (who designed Nicole Kidman's costumes for Moulin Rouge) because his son-in-law is my fiance's work colleague. However, though he was helpful, his labor is very expensive. It was going to cost us $6000 at least. Also he had very strong opinions and wasn't going to make something "ordinary". To him, the wedding dress is a piece of art,

Anyway, I'm totally happy with my non-custom wedding dress, and it also meant the budget saved could be spent on other areas.

Are you considering having a custom wedding dress?
