Did you have a grad party?

I couldn't and I feel very unfortunate! I live in an apartment so my mom wouldn't let me. We couldn't really afford it anyway. I feel like I missed out on a lot. Am I weird?! I feel like it when I tell people I didn't have one and they say, "OMGG YOU DIDNT?!"

If you really wanted to have 1 and couldn't, then I can understand why you would feel bummed by that, but get over it! It's not a huge deal to have a graduation party, I never had 1 and I have graduated from both HS and college... Some people can't afford to eat everyday, so think about that when you start to feel deprived because you couldn't have a party.

I never got one. In fact, the thought of having one never even crossed my mind. I don't regret it, but that's mainly because I don't really like being the center of attention. I didn't even want to go to the actual graduation, but my parents really wanted me to so I did. I'm sorry you regret not having one. Remember this, though. You will have many milestones throughout your life that you can celebrate. Just make sure you take the opportunity to do so when these events arise.

I couldn't either because we're pretty strapped financially. I got the same embarassing comments from people too, but what are you going to do? It's expensive to throw a party nowadays and it's silly that people expect you to shell out tons of money for a party when chances are you just spent a ton of money on school. It's disappointing, but you aren't alone. Congratulations on graduating though, it's a big achievement.

My Godmother had one for me, but it was really just an excuse to have a family party.  It really was not about me as much as about the food and the family coming together.  No one mentioned me even once.  My Godfather sat with me on his stoop and was a little tipsy and started to warn me about the evilness of boys..........I will never forget that night, but really, did not feel anything special about the party.  None of my friends were there, maybe that's why I did not feel anything one way or the other............
