If so, how long afterwards were you able to return to work? (talking about lapriscopic)

  1. no.

  2. I had mine removed via laparascope in Feb 2008.

I was in hospital overnight and returned to work as an administrator two and a half weeks later.

I have heard of people returning to work after only a few days but I had nasty effects from the anaesthetic and it took a while for my digestive system to adjust (and it still isn't right!)

If you're having yours out just try and avoid anything too acidic (eg tomatoes,  oranges,  etc) after the surgery for a little while - this will make you feel very nauseous (it did for me and after checking with a nurse friend this is quite common).

Also try to avoid using pain killers if you can - I was given drugs in hospital but then the doctor told me to just take nurofen at home - this was fine, the pain wasn't too bad but painkillers make you constipated which certainly does not help your already damaged digestive system (also your tummy is sore so going to the toilet hurts, constipation makes it worse!!)

    Hope this helps!
