Did you hear about the Danieal Kelly case?

It was in todays newspaper, but it happened a few years ago. A little 14 year old girl with cerebral palsy died due to serious neglect by her own parents. Her mother EMBARRASED of her and refused to care for her. Social workers not reporting her case. This is awful.

What happened to unconditional love for your child? What is wrong with people these days?

I couldn't believe that a parent would do that to their child. It's monstrous!

I did read that this morning. It definitely made me cry, reading the details about all she could say at the end was water, that's all she wanted and they wouldn't give her anything, they wouldn't change her diapers, nothing. So sad.

Yeah its sick and an unfortunate thing to think that still in this century our services are failing. most parents do love their child unconditionally but you do get the few that just have kids to claim benefits and as an excuse to be lazy. sad. =] x*x

these days? oh honey there have ALWAYS been ppl that have abused and neglected children. The difference between now and 100 yrs ago is that there are laws about it now. and yes some kids still do slip through the cracks but there are children who are helped too.

that's a very sad story. and those ppl (IMO) should be sterilized so they can no longer bring any more kids into the world to potentially be harmed.

edit:

i read through some of the stories from the second link. the one that got to me the most was of the woman to cut her 11 month old's arms off then calmly called 911 and said "i cut my daughter's arms off" as if she was telling someone the time. i was in tears for a while, and had to get off the computer for a while before i was able to compose my grief for that little girl. she died from blood loss. just horrible!
