BEIJING — A 7-year-old Chinese girl was not good-looking enough for the Olympics opening ceremony, so another little girl with a pixie smile lip-synced "Ode to the Motherland," a ceremony official said — the latest example of the lengths Beijing took for a perfect start to the Summer Games. its sad how obsessed with perfection they are to tell a little girl she cant sing before she isht pretty. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,402093,00.html

  1. Not surprise at all.. Cause China is known for fake products.. I mean you get fake Gucci, fake i-Phone, fake Armani, fake Nike, even a fake Disney Land in china.. Made In China = Low Quality Fake Products!!!

  2. As a person myself with out of place teeth i think its the most meanest thing in the world. I would of rather seen the real singer singing. If China wants to be know as having "cute little singers" They should of put the real singer up there she was pretty in her own way. In this day of age i thought people would have know better. Wouldn't the people who made this idea be prouder if it was all real. And to do it at the olympics. China should be saying sorry to the 7 year old.

  3. It's happened in the U.S. (remember "Milli Vanilli" or that lady on "C&C Music Factory?"  She sang but it was lip synched by a much thinner, younger girl in the group).  China isn't immune to it.

They are trying so hard to put on a good "show" for the rest of the world but you have to wonder if they're trying too hard?  (Beijing has become the Disneyland of metropolises.  Fantasy or reality?)

  4. I couldn't believe that, it was really unfair and i am glad that the truth came out about it! because the real girl who was actually singing got acknowledged.

  5. i was shocked. it's not like the real girl that sang was ugly. how on earth did they convince her parents to have the other girl sing? i would've been outraged if someone told me that my little girl wasn't cute enough and that another CUTER girl will be lip syncing to the song MY girl is actually singing.

  6. before anybody starts critisizing china i've got the real story

little girl #2 (the one who wasn't chosen) wasn't not chosen because of her looks it was because she had stage fright. altho she had the best voice she was too scared to sing in front of that many ppl...so they went with the little girl #1 who was extremely experienced as she had sang in front of millions b4 ...IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE GIRLS TEETH!

  7. I thought it very sad what they did.

  8. The opening ceremony is an art presentation. The directors had their contemplation. The 9-year old is more mature ,her image and performance deliver better for the art piece. The arrangement was previously agreed by the two girls, not intentional cheating or faking olympic.

Both the 7-year girl and her father said on a Chinese TV interview that they don't mind Peiyi is not the one singing in front of the audience, they are very grateful and honored by what they have contributed to the olympic and their country.

There are so much positive progress happening in China every single day, don't you wonder why all you hear is the negative, and lots of times they are not even the whole truth?

Go to China, learn their language, culture and history, talk to their people, then you will understand.

  9. yeah, front page of the age this morning and did you know that the fireworks they had was not real it was taped lol pathetic. Wonder how much of it actully is real

  10. Please don't forget Whitney Houston singing the National Anthem after September Eleventh...  lip synced.

All in all - it sucks.

  11. AAAAAAAAND how many teeny bopper singers in OUR COUNTRY sing live and write their own music? Thats right. Exactly NONE.

  12. omg i heard about it it was soo unfair she deserves to be acknowledged!!!!
