Will the good press from that perk up the City's rep, any?

  1. The neatest thing about this is the number of Detroit residents and businesses that donated money or supported the band's fund raisers so these kids could go. The band had to come up with the funding to pay for the flight, housing , food etc. themselves. Many of the TV and radio stations reported on their efforts. Some companies matched donated funds. The kids at the high school (not just the bands kids) and their parents had numerous fuctions and sales to get the thousands of dollars to get them there. The Detroit community rallied behind them and it is a tribute to not only to the Marting Luther king band students but all the students, their parents, the teachers, the staff and the good hearted people of Detroit that they are in China.

Too bad that this particular story is not played up as much as the ones about our scandal. There a lot of talented , good hearted, caring and repsonsible people in Detroit. This story proves it.

  2. Great Job King!!! from a former Osborn Marching Knight.

  3. I am for sure that many high school bands all throughout the United States of America wants to play at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China but only so few make it to Beijing. It is great that Martin Luther King High School of Detroit is going to play at the Opening Ceremony and I do wish the band the best of luck as you play for the world in Beijing.
