On WCCO I think its called it was talking about Hossa and this Wild person I don't remeber his name said that Marian Gaborik was trying to get Hossa to be with us because he wanted a better team and he knew that if he joined there would be. The wild were going to give him 8 million dollars if he signed with us. It didn't say for how long but they were. But in the end Hossa decided to be with the Wings but he was thinking of going to the wild but he decide on the Wings. (So we almost got Hossa, he was gonna be with us)

  1. A lot of teams wanted him I was hopeing the Bruins would make a good deal with him they even said Chara was best friends with him so I thought for sure he was going to be wearing a Bruins jersey next season.

  2. I doubt it was a we almost got Hossa.... Just because a player was calling him. Teams were offering a lot more, and I"m sure every team had a player calling him trying to convince him. Joe Sakic did it last year and got Smyth to join the avs...

Hossa wanted to play on a team with a serious chance at winning the cup. The wild are a borderline playoff team. You really didn't have much chance.

    But believe what you want....

  3. Bottom line is this.

#1 - Hossa only signed a 1 year deal and he signed it with an offensive powerhouse. He is going to get to pad his numbers and come out next year and probably make any more.

#2 - He is with the defending cup champs who lost nothing and have now gained him. They are an early favorite to win him a stanley cup which is the ultimate goal, right?

The wild would have been better and I really can't wait to see what would happen if they had another big name there to take all the defensive focus off of Gaborik. Its like Jarome Iginla and the Flames, Ovie and the Caps, Kopitar and the Kings . . . you shut down that one guy and you go a long way to shutting down the team. So I am disappointed, not that I am anything but a fringe fan, I just think the wild have a lot of potential.

If the wild really want to win they should drop the offensive style they played last year, go back to their defensive/shut-down style of the previous few years style and get a big name offensive star like Hossa or similar.

  4. Yeah that doesn't surprise me at all.

Gabby wants one of his countrymen with him ...since Radio and probablly demitra are gone!

that would have been so cool if we had him on our team! because the wild made a huge mistake with rolston and now he is in jersey ...dang it! but at least we have brunette!

hey isnt that weird how we got brunette back and the devils got Rolston back! ha well i wish hossa was with the wild. Marian Gaborik probablly wont sign with us next year since there is no chance of hossa and deffinately not if Pav is gone. but at least we have burns til 2012!!!!!

  5. Hey, I almost got gas for under $4 today.... just didnt happen.

BTW- Its clear that HOSSA wanted to be a WING the whole time. The WINGS were the only team he had his agent ask if a one-year deal was OK. That tells me he wanted to be a WING from the start. Remember, he will be available next summer if he doesnt get caught into the WINGS trap of staying and taking a huge pay-cut. Highly Likely!

We must also remember that HOSSA thought he was going to be a WING a week before PITT got him... then ATL upped their asking price and PITT came thru with more than DET was willing to part with, for the very reason PITT is upset now!

  6. I would say that the Wild had no chance.  Hossa took less money to play with Detroit, I'm guessing that he feels this is a shot at the Cup.

It's just like the Wild almost resigned Rolston, almost signed Naslund, etc.

  7. Maybe they will sign him next year.

  8. Yea they were just as close as the Oilers. HAA.
