Apparently, you can use orange oil to treat fire ant bites.

Not only does it instantly soothe that annoying pain from the bite but it also helps the wounds heal faster!

My dad actually discovered that on accident when he used orange gojo on his hands that had been bit previously. I googled that and read that sometimes gardeners like to use deluted orange oil to spray on plants that they need to rid of fire ants.

I would like to know if anyone else has tried the oil for fire ant bites.

Also, if any of you already knew that, would you happen how the components in the orange oil actually work for that?

Just curious.

  1. I haven't heard of it but tea tree oil also stops all insect bites. I use it often here in south louisiana. great for stinging caterpillars.

  2. I haven't tried it but the orange extracts' astringent action  will draw the skin up and expunge any oils or other venoms, similar to  alum.

it is used in soaps to tighten wrinkled skin.

  3. This is good to know.  I have never been bit by an ant.  I always just kill off the colony when I find them.  I use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.
