  1. Of course I know its Canada Day, as I am Canadian. Its the day we celebrate Canada's "birthday"  as this is the date, in 1867 when the provinces came together to form Canada. The day was originally known as Dominion Day, but was changed to Canada Day in 1982, which is a far better name. Its is a statutory holiday, which usually results in a long weekend and festivals in every city and town, no matter how small. And of course, the evening is capped off by fireworks..........I am headed out to the festivities shortly.

    my kid thought canada was a really old person, i mean he's knows it's a country, but when they said there was 140 candles on Canada's bday cake on the radio, he was like "why isn't that person in the guiness book"???
