That the 'RMS' Queen Mary wasn't the first vessel to be called that. Not long before her launch in the 30's , the original vessel by that name was a Clyde Steamer. Her owners agreed to suffix her name to 'Queen Mary 11' to allow Cunard to name their ship. This old passenger vessel is lying in the Thames as a disco bar and conference centre. Moving forward some 70 years or so , the brand new Cunard ship is called , yes , you've guessed it , MS Queen Mary 2.

  6. There was also a British Battlecruiser, the HMS Queen Mary in WW1.  

    Blew up and sunk at Jutland, IIRC.

  7. Not that old "Clyde Steamer" Chestnut, again! And it's suffixed  WITH!

    Oh, and it's "the 2nd" [ Ⅱ ] not the eleventh!!
