    what i also found out a few years ago is that the ozone thins over the arctic too in winter and spring.

It seems to me that the ozone holes are likely caused by lack of solar rays at the poles.  Ozone is formed by solar radiation hitting the outer atmosphere.  It adds one oxygen to the normal O2.  Obviously there is less solar radiation at the poles and less likelihood that it would form.  Yet I read from NASA that halons and CFCs were causing the hole and he admitted that heat was a factor.  I could understand them saying that it might make the hole bigger but suggesting they are the only cause seems more like alarmism worming its ugly head into a government agency that is supposed to provide science.  It is curious to me that I have never read anyone stating that hole in the ozone was from anything other than CFCs.  Obviously if CFCs were the only or primary cause, it wouldn't fluctuate so much IMO.  I must be missing something here.
