  1. Yes, but I did not know the firstborn part.

I have seen equally as many cases firstborn as second births, but that is very interesting. I have not had many autistic students in 26 years, until recently.

  2. Yes, I did know that.  Interesting, huh? Thoguh, most students I've worked with who are more severe are girls.

  3. many conditions affect males more

    males have xy genes

    females have xx

so if 1 x gene is affected by something-the female has nother one to compensate-the male doesn't

if the case of autism-one theory is that it has to do with testostorne--some males wih autism have high levels

  4. Ye. Classrooms usually have 5+ boys and 2 0r less girls. And Autism is not predominant in 1 specific race but African American women do have a high rate of low birth weight and premature births resulting in a high number of children with autism.

  5. yes

  6. Thanks

  7. Yes, I thought there must be something in the male genes that made them susceptible. And also, get this, particularly first born.

  8. I think it has more to do with the famale's compensatory brain-wiring that is more proficient in the area of communication.

Men are inherently more compartmentalised intellectually, and that would exaggerate the outcome.

  9. Yeah I knew that but The few people I knew ar first were girls but then my sister went to a NAS school and obviously I noticed the high ratio of boys to girls...however, next week there is a new girl starting in my sister's class which will mean there are 4 boys and 4 girls....was quite shocked that there will be so many girls!

  10. i didnt know that. thanks!
