You see, the media likes to give us surprises! If they talk about what he smokes, then people will know that he smokes and when he gets lung cancer from it, it wont' come as a surprise. If they ignore it, they can make a big deal out of..."oh my gosh, he has cancer, and guess what, he smokes!" Holy smokes!
