  1. Blu-ray will not replace standards DVD's, not anytime soon. Don't support Blu-ray. HD-DVD is much more consumer friendly. I would happier if HD-DVD would become the next standard format because there is no region coding on their discs, AACS is not mandatory, no BD+, the prices are lower compared to Blu-ray, the ecocomy is near a recession, so don't overpay, knowing HD-DVD  costs less and you get the same quality picture, compared to Blu-ray. Blu-Ray is backed up by Sony and Sony is anti-consumer giving customers root kits and making customers DVD's unplayable with their ARccOS copy protection. Watch the Super Bowl and stay tuned for the HD-DVD commercial.

  2. Rubbish. DVDs will be around for a very long time yet. This sounds like a rumour to con you into buying Bluray discs & recorders/players.

  3. Old news, HD DVD is on its backside now as major companies don't support it.  Blu-Ray is coming!

Like Tapes to CD it will be years yet!

  4. or hd anyone old enough to remember the video wats will remember that sony lost that last fight too

dont buy yet untill we know the winner

  5. There are 2 new formats, Blu-Ray and HD DVD.

It'll be a format war, like with Betamax and VHS :)

  6. d**n !!! Now I'm gonna have to go out and buy myself a Blu-Ray player  !!!

  7. Not for a while yet, DVD sales are still really strong and DVDs are a lot cheaper then Blu-Ray. Not every has a TV good enough to full show of the Blu-Rays capabilities. So maybe in 10 years it will be the death of the DVD.

  8. Did you know you are wrong?

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are still slugging it out to decide which format will eventually replace DVDs.

This format war all started about a year ago, which shows just how out of date you are...

  9. that's a bit like DVD taking over from VHS it will probably take years although i do have blue ray player it still expensive at the moment for the majority of consumers
