Autumn Kelly was born in 1978 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Brian Kelly, an electricity company executive and his wife Kitty.[2] She has a twin brother Chris and an older brother Kevin.[2] She grew up in Cedar Park, Pointe-Claire in the English-speaking West Island region of Montreal, and was baptised on 18 June 1978 at St John Parish Church in Pointe-Claire.[3][4] After being educated at a Roman Catholic primary school she attended St. Thomas High School in Pointe-Claire alongside friend and actress Casey McKinnon and excelled at sport.[5][3] Her parents divorced when she was eight-years old, and her mother remarried an airline pilot, Ron Magas.[3][2]

Kelly graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002 and started a career as a management consultant.[6] While at University, she worked as a bartender and model.[3]
