Marring more than one wife was carried out by people of various faiths - even the prophets of christianity and judaism.

PLEASE STUDY HISTORY before looking for excuses to put Islam down.

9 AND 12yr olds were much more mature back then compared to now. There is a lot of wisdom of God behind Muhammed marring Aisha(9) . TRY THINKING OUT OF THE BOX.

  1. That actually makes sense to marry young, seeing the average lifespan of any person in the medieval ages was less than 30 years. Thanks to studies in science and technology, were able to enjoy average lifespans of about 75 years.

  2. yes that is a well known part of history, these days we allow chikldren to grow up before marring them off.  Did you also realise that these children were not given a choice of who they were married to. and that girls of 10 or 11 were married off as soon as they started to menstrate, and were often dead by mid 20's fron constant child bearing, they were married off so young so that they wouldn't get up to any no good before marriage.  they had no fun in life they went from childhood to marriage and children without a time of freedom.  I do't think they were any more mature but they were considered adults simply because there bodies were becomming adult.  I can't see what can be good about a girl child who has just started to menstrate being married to a man much older then her, spending many years in child bearing, growing old before her time, dying early, often before 30, it was not a good idea.

  3. Actually a great many people got married quite late as a result of the trades system which tied them into their respective apprenticeships until their early 20s...

Men rarely if ever married before their mid-20s and in the early MA the age of their wives was normally similar.  This changed later on; teenage wives were common in the high & late period. The catholic church would have no part in the marriage of under 12 years, based on a rough base line for sexual maturity (a measure that crops up repeatedly across history & culture boundaries.) However those at the bottom end of the age scale were far from the majority.

People may well have been more mature in certain ways; the world was in certain ways simpler, and children impossible to shelter from its realities, as we today are inclined to. But to suggest that a 9 year old of any era is as emotionally mature or mentally competant as we would expect a modern 16 (or even 12) year old to be is a nonsense.

Lets just hope old Muhammed had the good grace to leave consummation a good few years...

  4. Did you know in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo was like 20 and Juliet was 12?

Vietnamese people don't actually eat ANY dog, they actually breed dogs especially for eating. It's like Americans breeding the rarer speckled chickens with white chickens because speckled chickens taste better. I actually find that rather offensive that you say that in comparison to this. What people in within a culture is disgusting to some and delicious to others. I'm Vietnamese, thought I've never eaten dog myself, I've eaten duck eggs with a partially developed duckling inside. Filipinos also eat this and this food is a delicacy to me because Americans don't keep the eggs as fresh as the Vietnamese do. I've told many friends this and they can't even stand to think of that.

Though this has very little to do with the question since W.W.W. is referring to history while this is with culture. Pardon me.

  5. What? Yes I knew that. You have problems man.....just because one country says that is "ok", doesn't mean it is. Vietnam says its "ok" to eat cats and dogs, do we? NO.

    Have you considered joining NAMBLA?
