  1. I'd rather tip based on the service I received, not ahead of time like a deposit.

  2. In California they make 8 bucks an hour plus tips.

    ...just sayin'.

  3. yes, that's why we have to make up the difference for them.

  4. It's sad what servers make. I can't believe the $8/hr. That's really something. It's about $2-$3 around here. I can't afford to eat out anymore just b/c I can't afford the food and a tip too so I'm not going to stiff the server b/c the meal cost so much.

  5. yes they do, and if cheap people dont tip them they have to tip out others such as busboys, bartenders and foodrunners even they dont get a tip

  6. after taxes on that hourly wage and taxes on tips, it actually averages $1 an hour on their paychecks. Tips are the incentive for a server to provide good service. If you tip ahead of time, then where is the incentive? I was a server for 12 years, and never counted on my paycheck for any income, as my tips were sufficient. They actually make pretty good money.

  7. Louka, I am noticing a theme here bad night?  When I come into a restaurant I expect prompt service.  It is not you get what you pay for, You earn based on your service.
