The great eastern which was a 690 foot ship built in the 1850's had a total engine power output of 8,000 horsepower, which is a little more than a modern tugboat!

  1. well what do you expect it was built in the 1800's they didnt have the stuff we have now adays.  did you know that some train engines were built by GM (general motors)


  2. UMM  IN 1850 THE WERE NO MOTORS USED FOR TRANSPORTATION .  THAT'S  WHY WE USED HORSES BACK THEN DUH ! AND BY THE WAY, BACK THEN WE DID NOT HAVE THE TECHNOLIGY TO BUILD A ENGINE THAT WOULD PRODUCE THAT MUCH POWER .  I DONT  THINK THERE EVEN WAS GAS OR DIESIL ENGINES BACK THEN THEY WERE ALL STEAM POWERD SO YOU HAVE BEEN LIED TO BY SOMEONE MY FRIEND !
