I just started working there. Today my supervisor asked me to sautee onions. I was excited and asked where the pan was. She told me to stick the onions in the microwave then serve them. WTF????

  1. What's wrong with that?  Sure, you might be expecting to do something else to the onions, but that doesn't make it wrong... and are you sure the lady just put the onion in the microwave, or did she put something else on it after it was cooked, or did she put something else in it to cook with it in the microwave?  Because otherwise, it would be pretty bland.

  2. I wouldnt expect nothing less from a fast food joint. It is not a sit down restaurant and people do not have time to be waiting long periods of time, so I'm not surprised in the least bit.

  3. ha! "Just put a fancy name on it!! They'll pay more for it!"

    and how true that is....

  4. And Applebee's cooks their shrimp in the microwave.

  5. Soo???  They taste good and it's a quick way to do it.  Many restaurants have short cuts that would surprise you

  6. thats odd, your right thought to make sauteed onions you need a pan.

  7. Yeah, I worked at a Quiznos for three years. Its not a big deal, they still taste just fine once they are mixed with everything else. Its not a five star restraunt, and trust me, after a month or two you will be so happy you don't have to pull a pan out to saute the onions. When there are a limited number of employees responsible for everything, they can't be expected to full on cook everything that goes on a sandwhich. There are no chefs, just minimum wage sandwhich makers/cashiers/maids/salespeople.... you get the point. Besides, at my Quiznos we were supposed to dip the sauted onions in the au jus dip with the meat to add flavor. Maybe you should ask your manager if you are supposed to do that, if you dont?
